- Rules
-
General Rules (Apply to conduct out of character [Includes the personal message system])- Be respectful to all other members of this site; personal attacks will not be tolerated. We can’t all get along, but we can all try. If you don’t like somebody, don’t talk to them.
- All discussions are to be kept at a PG rating, there is a PG-13 out of character section for slightly more mature discussions.
- You may not advertise any other Harry Potter role playing sites on this website.
- Have as much fun as possible! Yes, that's a rule! This is a site for everybody’s enjoyment – so enjoy it!
Rules for Role Plays- We adhere to most, if not all, physical and legal laws of the Harry Potter universe. This means that electronic devices do not function in Hogwarts and that underage witches/wizards may not use magic outside of Hogwarts.
- Role plays are to stay at a PG level; the role playing of excessive gore/violence, snogging (making out), the use of illegal drugs, underage use of alcohol, suicide and/or self mutilation are all prohibited and may result in an increased warning level.
- You only control your character. Nobody else’s, you cannot determine what another person’s character does in any of your posts without their explicit permission. To do so is called Godmoding and is forbidden; such actions may result in an increased warning level.
- Your character’s knowledge of Magic and the Magical world should remain connected to their age and skill level, along with their history. First year characters should know no magic, except possibly lumos (If they come from a Wizarding home). Even adult characters should not know all and to make such a character is called “powermoding” or “passive godmoding”. Unless you’re perfect, your character shouldn’t be.
- Any storylines extending beyond the normal guidelines of this site MUST be approved by the Admin. This includes major events and wizarding wide events.
----- There are no Vampires, Trolls, or other dangerous magical creatures (unless RP'ed by someone with my permission) at this school or on the Grounds. Please don't RP as if there were. If there is a demanding reason for a dangerous creature, please personal message an administrator for approval. Posting
- When posting in a role play do so in the third person. This means using “He/She” in the place of “I” and “His/Her” in the place of “my” etc.
For example, "Alicia Barker walked into the room and saw that everything was gone"; something to that affect.
- If a topic says "Closed" then you aren't to post there unless you have permission from the topic starter. For instance the topic title can be "Alicia walking" and the subtitle will be "CLOSED".
Classes- Without classes, Hogwarts New Zealand wouldn't be Hogwarts. As such, attendance in classes is mandatory though actually doing the lessons is not. You may read about this policy more in depth in any classroom forum.
- Each professor is a moderator of their own classroom and creates the rules for that forum that your character is to follow.
- Schedules for classrooms can be found in house common rooms – this is when you are to attend classes.
- Third year students, must choose at least two elective classes. The electives are: Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, and Muggle Studies. Choose wisely based on what you want your character’s future to hold and as you may drop electives later on, but you may not pick up another one instead.
Special Items/Abilities- All special items (Invisibility cloaks, pensive, deluminators)are obviously not common and therefore the owning of such items must be approved by an Administrators.
- All special abilities/powers/races must be approved by an administrator or by Eva Williams.
- Punishments
-
PunishmentShould any of the above rules be broken the following pattern of punishment will be followed: First Offence:Warning via PM Second Offence:Increase in Warning level and PM notification Third Offence:Increase in Warning level, PM notification and possible posting restrictions. Fourth Offence:Increase in Warning level, PM in notification, possible posting restrictions and possible account suspension.
